"There is no word in the language I revere more than 'teacher.' My heart sings when a kid refers to me as his teacher, and it always has. I've honored myself and the entire family of man by becoming a teacher."
Pat Conroy, Prince of Tides
Welcome to our website

We are the Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA). Affiliated with the Colorado Education Association (CEA) and the National Education Association (NEA), JCEA is both a professional association and an advocate organization for teachers. Since 1968 we have successfully represented the interests of teachers, students and public schools through successful negotiations of our comprehensive Master Agreement with the Jeffco Public Schools and a variety of Association programs.

Our mission is to empower educators to advocate for professional rights, responsibilities and practices to achieve educational excellence within a changing society. Our motto-Shaping Tomorrow Today - reflects that mission and the purpose of public schools in Jefferson County, Colorado. We believe the students in our classrooms today will be the decision-makers, custodians, and taxpayers of our democratic society tomorrow.
A special welcome to new teachers: We look forward to meeting you during Jeffco's New Teacher Induction on August 11 at Lakewood HS. The continental breakfast, beginning at 7:30, and the lunch are provided by JCEA. Please take a moment and brows our website so that you have a better understanding about who we are and why we are proud of our role in helping to create great public schools for every student. Concerned about school funding in Colorado? See below:
    1. Believe in a Better Colorado is an unprecedented alliance among the state’s three largest education associations (CASE, CASB and CEA) to inform public school employees and citizens about Colorado’s dwindling tax base for essential public services. The ultimate goal is to adopt a new tax system to fund public services that are critical to our state’s future – such as K–12 and higher education, health care and transportation. To find out more, click here! Want to learn more about how Colorado got into this tax mess? Watch the BBC video on You Tube.

    2. Great Education Colorado (GEC), is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization of public school supporters, which advocates for adequate funding for K-12 education in Colorado. The organization's main focus is on informing public school supporters about critical issues in school funding through its web-site, newsletters, and events. Great Education Colorado, launched in 2005, also works with its supporters to empower them to be vocal advocates for Colorado's public schools. Phone: (303) 722-5901. For more information clicking here! GEC has recently put out a thought provoking video by Sam Adams,"the sports guy," that compares Colorado's school funding to other states. To view it click here. This is a great video to pass on to neighbors, family and friends! DECIDE is a new GEC campaign: 1) to make sure the state legislature understands the negative impact budget cuts are having on public schools, and 2) to provide a solution. Read more about the campaign and sign the petition by clicking here.
